Wreaths are Always a Win!

One of our favorite fall door decorations is a simple wreath. There are so many great wreath ideas out there... you can buy one from your favorite craft store, Etsy or you can always DIY one!

A wreath made from leaves is the perfect fall door decoration. It's so easy to put together, and you can use real or artificial leaves for this project! If you want some more fall vibes, add some acorns too!

If your home has dark wood doors, then we recommend choosing fall-colored wreaths with bright orange pumpkins on them. The contrast will really pop and make your front door feel extra festive during this season of gratitude & giving thanks.

Add Some Pumpkins

Another classic fall decoration is the pumpkin. You can find pumpkins in all shapes, sizes, and colors at your local grocery store or pumpkin patch.

If you have a green thumb, then growing fall pumpkins yourself is a great way to get into the spirit of fall! Then these pumpkins you grew yourself will double as fall front door decor... how cool is that?

You can incorporate pumpkins into your fall front door decor ideas in so many fun ways. You could always carve one out and put it on the front porch with a candle inside for some nighttime ambiance.

Or, if carving isn't really your thing... grab some paint & stencils and let those creative juices flow!

And if you do not feel those creative juices flowing this fall, that is okay! There are all kinds of artificial pumpkins available for purchase at stores such as Micheal's or Hobby Lobby around the fall time! So you can still make your front door area look very fall festive without needing to be creative.

In fact, try picking up some white pumpkins to switch it up a bit. This way you will be creative, without actually having to DIY anything. White pumpkins are less common than the classic orange pumpkins, so these will be a unique touch to your front door decor!

Bring out nature

Autumn is all about celebrating nature's beauty. That's why it's so important to incorporate natural elements when decorating during this season! Plus, this is a great way to show that you love the environment around you by incorporating nature into your front porch.

There are many ways you can do this: bring some leaves inside & get creative by creating a DIY leaf wreath. Hang some dried branches with leaves still attached to your front door. If it's chilly outside, put a blanket of pine needles or straw on your front porch to really make it feel like fall!

If you want something that involves nature, but you don't want to actually take from nature, you can make your own leaf garland. All you need is some artificial leaves, some kind of string, and a hot glue gun. Simply glue the leaves in any pattern you like onto the string, and you’re done! Super simple, yet very fall and festive!

Flowers!

Flowers are always a great option for fall front door decor ideas. Fall flowers pair well with any fall decorating themes, so you can’t really go wrong here! Fall-colored flowers are perfect for this time of year and they come in all shapes and sizes.

Any flower arrangement will look beautiful on your front porch or front door during this fall season. You could go with a fall-themed bouquet or mix things up by using different colors like oranges, yellows, and reds.

If you are feeling really crafty, you could always make your own fall flower arrangement! All you need is some artificial flowers (you can find these at any craft store), some wire, and a little bit of creativity. Whatever you end up making, it will add to your fall front door decor very nicely!

If you do not want to spend hours putting up or making fall front door decor, that’s okay! Fall flowers are available at any grocery store around this time of year. You can easily grab one or two bouquets and place them on your front porch in minutes! This is also a great way to support local farmers & flower shops.

If you’re looking for something more colorful than just orange and red leaves for your fall front door decor, try adding some dried mums! They are perfect because they are already in a pot – all you have to do is add some fall-themed ribbons around the rim of the pot and hang it up outside.

Choose a style for your door decor - traditional, modern, rustic, etc.

If you are feeling a bit overwhelmed with trying to figure out exactly what all door decorations you want to put on display, do not worry! We have the answer for you.

Start off by simply choosing the specific fall theme you would like to have that showcases your front door and front porch area. From there, it will be much easier to choose the specific front door decor that you want to use!

If you want a traditional fall look, go with lots of pumpkins, leaves, and dried flowers. You could even add some corn stalks into this traditional style too!

If your style is more modern & sleek, try using metallic accents like gold or silver.

Or if you are going for a rustic fall look, do not be afraid to add some plaid or burlap into the mix. A simple miniature rustic ladder would look nice too!

It’s important that fall door decorations aren’t too overwhelming because they will make it harder for people to actually see your house. The best fall front door decor is the ones where they aren't blocking the view of what is inside. Fall is about simplicity and elegance!

String up some lights

Fall is all about coziness and what better way to show that off than by adding some lights to your front door decor! This is a great way to make your front porch feel extra special during this time of year.

You can either go with traditional Christmas-style lights or if you want something a bit more fall-themed, try using pumpkin string lights!

You could even use one of the small pumpkins you may have carved out and put some string lights in that to give it a cozy feeling. It would be a cool twist to that traditional pumpkin feel!

Fall Porch Lights

Add some festive decorations to your porch railing

If you want fall door decorations that are a bit more creative, try adding some festive front door decor to your porch railing! This is a great way to give off that fall feel, without all of the traditional fall decorations if that isn't your thing.

Or you could very easily turn your front porch railing into a full fall harvest scene by incorporating fall decor such as pine cones, corn stalks, hay bales, and autumn leaves.

You can easily use any type of ribbon and wrap it around the railing so that when someone walks up, they get an extra fall surprise along with their warm welcome. You could also hang fall garlands around the railing to really bring it all together.

Place a Fall mat at your door

A great way to complete your fall door decorations is by adding a fall mat at your door! This will help to keep the fall feeling going even after someone has left your house.

You can find some really cute fall mats at any store this time of year, or you could make your own. All you need is a piece of fabric (or multiple pieces if you want it to be bigger), some fall-themed fabric paint, and a stencil (or freehand if you’re feeling brave).

Once you find the perfect fall doormat for your fall front door decor, make sure you go on www.thedoorfoto.com and find the perfect door cover that pairs with your doormat!

Fall Doormat

And remember, if you have your own fall image that you know will pair seamlessly with your fall doormat or any of your front door decor ideas, you can always send it to them and they will get it made into a DoorFoto™ for you!
